Formulated for Melanin-Rich Skin

Melanin-rich skin deserves intentional care. Dermapharm provides thoughtfully selected skincare solutions tailored to meet its unique needs.

Who We Are

Dermapharm is a pharmacist-led skincare brand and clinical education platform dedicated to advancing evidence-based skincare, safe product development, and dermatologically informed solutions for people of colour.

We operate at the intersection of clinical science and product innovation — where pharmacy expertise meets formulation rigor, and education drives lasting change.

Our work is rooted in a single conviction: melanin-rich skin deserves skincare designed intentionally for it, not borrowed from formulations built for someone else.

The Problem We Are Solving

Skin of colour has distinct physiological and dermatological characteristics — including a heightened susceptibility to hyperpigmentation, post-inflammatory discolouration, and melanin dysregulation. Yet the skincare market has historically treated these needs as secondary, producing products adapted from general formulations with little clinical consideration for melanin-rich skin.

The result is a persistent gap in two critical areas:

  • Access to credible, science-based skincare education grounded in the biology of pigmented skin
  • Availability of safe, clinically formulated products designed specifically for these dermatological needs

This gap has real consequences — from ineffective routines and wasted expenditure, to dangerous practices like skin bleaching that cause lasting dermatological harm.

The Origin Story

Why I Founded Dermapharm

Dermapharm was born from a combination of clinical awareness, personal observation, and a deeply defining turning point in my life.

As a pharmacist-in-training and skincare enthusiast, I consistently observed a major gap in how skincare for people of color was understood and managed. Many individuals were navigating hyperpigmentation, uneven tone, and skin barrier issues with limited access to reliable, science-based guidance. In many cases, they were exposed to products and practices that prioritized quick results over long-term skin health, including harmful skin-lightening approaches.

This revealed a clear need: skincare guidance for melanin-rich skin that is grounded in science, safety, and professional insight.

However, my commitment to building Dermapharm became even more personal after a significant emotional experience in my life. That moment did not create the vision but it strengthened my resolve, sharpened my focus, and deepened my understanding of healing, confidence, and identity.

"It made the mission more than academic or professional. It made it personal."

From that point, Dermapharm evolved from an idea into a purpose-driven platform. One focused on bridging the gap between skincare education and safe, intentional product development for people of color.

Today, through Dermapharm and our initiative Save the Skin, I am committed to changing how skincare is understood and practiced, shifting it from confusion and harm to clarity, safety, and confidence.

At its core, Dermapharm exists because skincare should never compromise identity. It should protect, restore, and strengthen it through science.

Our Foundation

The Three Pillars

Educate

Pharmacist-led clinical education that decodes skin biology, pigmentation pathways, and barrier health for melanin-rich skin.

Formulate

Evidence-based products built from the ground up — not adapted from generic formulations — using rigorous benefit–risk evaluation.

Empower

Equipping individuals to make informed, safe skincare decisions and transition away from harmful practices for good.

"Dermapharm does not follow skincare trends. We define standards — through science, safety, and intentional formulation for people of colour."

We envision a future where skincare for people of colour is not an adaptation of general formulations, but a dedicated standard of care.
